Project Malleus was founded by Eric Smith in 2022, with the invaluable help of Sabiqul Hoque — both now PGY2 resident medical officers. What started as a student project has grown into the largest collaborative clinical medicine Anki deck written for Australian and New Zealand practice, and it has always stayed volunteer run, open source, and free to use.
Hugh Fenton-White, our Lead Malleus Maintainer, oversees deck completion — which we anticipate by December 2026 — assisted by Michael Colla, our Lead Content Reviewer, and a team of maintainers who review every community submission.
The Committee
We're hiring
Malleus runs on volunteers, and there's always room for more — from committee positions to maintainers and content reviewers. Open roles are listed on our jobs board, and our meetings are public so you can see how the project works before you commit.
